Meet the Team – Ioana Vulturar, Team Lead and Service Owner

by | April 5, 2018

April’s Meet the Team interview features Ioana, one of our Team Leads based in Cluj. Ioana is a true professional when it comes to her job and the way she interacts with her clients. But also an artistic and inspiring person when it comes to her life outside the office.

Tell us about your time/journey in Xoomworks.

I joined Xoomworks a bit over 3 years ago. I was back in Cluj after having spent 5 wonderful years in France and I was very glad to see that people at Xoomworks were so warm and welcoming.

I started working on Ariba Sourcing and Coupa projects in both French and English. In a relatively short period of time, I managed to significantly enrich my Sourcing knowledge by working in Iasta, Coupa and Ariba. At the same time, I was gaining more and more Coupa experience on a variety of services, such as: Supplier Enablement, Service Desk (1st, 2nd and 3rd line support), End User Training, Implementation, Optimization and cXML Enablement in French, English and occasionally Spanish. Since then, our team has grown significantly and I am currently working as a Team Lead and a Service Owner on multiple Coupa projects, as well as on Sourcing and Determine, our newest e-Procurement tool.

What do you like most about working at Xoomworks?

The people. I believe that my warmhearted colleagues at Xoomworks and, in general, the people I’ve met so far have shaped me into the person I am today. And for that, I couldn’t be more grateful.

Are there any projects that you are particularly fond of?

I prefer any project that combines technical knowledge with communication/language skills. In my opinion, this is the ideal combination. However, if I had to choose a type of service, I think I would go with Sourcing and Implementations, but anything else that challenges me works just fine as well.

Let’s talk about your team. Who are they and what makes them special?

My team is made up of technical polyglots. They are the perfect combination of excellent language skills, dedication, determination and technical knowledge in a variety of e-Procurement systems. And more importantly, they understand the importance of working hard and having fun and I must say they have been applying it successfully for a while now.

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

I never had a clear answer to this question. Since I was a child, I was mad keen on mathematics and informatics, but at the same time I had a great passion for communication and languages, which led me to learn and eventually speak seven languages. Therefore I constantly find myself between the two, trying to improve both my technical and linguistic abilities. That being said, my goal has always been to do something meaningful and beneficial for those who truly need it and I’m currently working on a project to do just that.

What are your hobbies? What do you like doing in your free time?

I have to admit that my schedule outside of working hours looks like a full-time job, but in a very positive way, since every single activity that I have in my spare time brings me pure joy. So here goes:

I do yoga, Pilates and meditation. I work on my blog. I take language courses on a weekly basis. I work with an NGO. I write. I take macro photographs, as well as animal portraits. Every Saturday is piano day. My kind of movie time is watching TED talks on YouTube. I read both literature and specialized books, mostly on nutrition and human psychology, and not a day goes by without me devouring articles, studies or books. And, above all, I love wandering the world, going to “never ever seen that before”, but also going back to places that are now an ingrained part of me. Places that keep my mind and heart open.

Ioana also has a blog that speaks about her love for words, travel, food, photography and people. If you would like to follow her, we invite you to access her website here.
