This month in our Meet the Team section we welcome, Bianca Dumitru, one of our Operation Procurement Support Team Leads based in Cluj-Napoca. Besides leading one of our OPS teams, Bianca is also involved in Coupa and Jaggaer projects. She loves to spend her free time with Javi, (her dog), reading, cooking and playing video games.
Tell us about your time in Xoomworks
I’m one-year-old within Xoomworks and it’s been an adventure all the way.
I keep saying “I’m still getting used to” this or that, but the truth is, I grew some strong roots here.
I started off as a Senior Coupa Analyst on Release Management projects. Three months later I became a Team Lead and started getting involved on a higher level in different projects (Coupa and Jaggaer). I guess you could say that I did not get the chance to get bored in doing certain tasks, as my set of responsibilities shifted and expanded quickly. So far, so good, I guess.
What do you like most about working at Xoomworks?
Hard to say, but if I had to come up with a Top 4, it would probably be:
- The people and their sense of humour
- Their dogs/cats
- Being able to work from home, next to my dog
- Being able to come to work with my dog
Are there any projects that you are particularly fond of?
My guilty pleasure is Jaggaer, but I must admit that once a Team Leader, always a Leader.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the technical side of my job and I have learned SO many things since I started working here, but my team always comes first. They are the backbone to my motivation and the benchmark to my success. Unfortunately, any other praise or job well done on any of my projects, doesn’t compare to the joy of seeing them grow individually and evolve as a team.
Let’s talk about your team. Who are they and what makes them special?
My favourite subject
My team can be described as “the cool kids from the block”. I love that they are so different and yet so alike. They put great effort into knowing one another and setting an example. They take great responsibility for their mistakes, but also understanding their impact and influence on the workplace. They accepted and helped me from day one, although I was an outsider. I am a better leader because of them. Definitely a better colleague and employee. Some would say I got lucky, but I think we were meant to be.
What are your hobbies? What do you like doing in your free time?
You probably noticed by now that I love animals, therefore I spend most of my free time taking long walks with my dog or pet sitting.
I’m also a volunteer at Pas-cu-Pas Foundation. So, my once-every-few weekends are spent doing fun and educational activities for children from different placement centers around Cluj and Bistrita county. I love spending time with the kids and Javier (my dog) acts as a therapy dog for them sometimes.
By the way, we’re working hard into organizing a charity run on May 9th – Pas cu Folos. I hope I can bring as many Xoomies as I can to this event, so I’m taking the chance and land this initiative here. Save the date!
I’m a big-time PS player, so after my schedule ends, you’ll find me in my beanbag, smashing some chests or battling some bad guys. If it’s summertime, we’re off camping. If it’s winter, I’m gone skiing. The tiniest free timeslot I got is mostly filled by my family and friends, movies or reading books I will never get to finish (switched the drama for cooking books lately – big fan of food, both eating and making it).
