Currently, we are looking for a Data Manual QA Engineer.
Position summary
An exciting opportunity for a data engineer to join the Product & Technology department, of a growing business and a globally recognised brand. Working in teams with Sofia or in distributed teams in London and Sofia, you will be responsible for delivering innovative technical solutions as you build and operate world-class platforms to grow the Financial Times strategic business models. You will have the autonomy to select the tools and technologies you need to build and operate services responsible for FT brand critical capabilities. Someone who is comfortable with the ever-changing technical landscape and is keen to contribute to the company’s processes and broader know-how would thrive in this role.
Main duties and responsibilities

Work directly with product owners and senior stakeholders on data quality challenges

Have a thorough understanding of the data workflows in the Content & Metadata platform and their interaction with other products within the Product & Technology organisation in FT

Maintain and monitor the quality of the data within the Content & Metadata platform
-
Maintain and monitor the quality of the data in the Knowledge Graph supported by the C&M team via manual updates or using existing automation

Collaborate with 3-rd party vendors providing NLP capabilities and evaluate the quality of their services.

Respond to FT Editorial requests for data updates

Train, monitor and update ML models via existing command-line tools

Contribute to company-wide processes, frameworks and guidelines

Develop an in-depth understanding of FT’s underlying data and data flow, and data structures.
Essential skills and experience
-
Good command of written and spoken English
-
Experience in modern database technologies (AWS/cloud-based/in-memory etc.), scripting languages
-
Experience using command-line tools and working in Linux/Unix environments
-
Good database querying skills in any relational database technology (MySQL, PostgreSQL) Experience with document-based databases (MongoDB)

Experience working with data sources of varying volumes, variety and velocity
-
Experience with using REST API (via tools like curl, Postman) and JSON data format.
Desirable skills and experience

Experience working with Graph oriented databases such as Neo4j
-
Experience with taxonomy or ontology management tools (Smartlogic - Semaphore)

Some level of understanding of Natural Language Processing

Experience working as part of an Agile delivery team, using methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
