Following on from our running exploits in 2009 a team of 8 Xoomworks employees entered the 2010 Corporate Team Challenge as part of the Royal Parks half marathon.

For four of our employees this meant starting their running career from scratch. With full support from some of the senior members of Xoomworks (all seasoned runners) a training plan was devised to get our novices into shape. Training started as early as April and the guys could regularly be seen running up and down the Thames paths in all weather and in Hyde Park on very early Sunday mornings. The team chose the ‘Teenage Cancer Trust’ (http://www.teenagecancertrust.org/) as its worthwhile charity. After some unusual training techniques in New Zealand and summer ‘bugs’ the team assembled on October 10th for the event. Once again Hyde Park was bathed in glorious sunshine and the runners took their places in the 15,000 strong crowd. Overall Xoomworks finished an impressive 10th (up from 44th last year) in the Corporate Challenge ahead of illustrious competitors such as ‘Red Bull’ and ‘Efficio’. The team, with great support from colleagues and family, also succeeded in raising over £1000 for charity. Check out the event details at http://www.royalparkshalf.com/ Next year the Xoomworks running club will be upping the miles and running a unique “Brighton to London” challenge with two marathons either side.
