This month’s meet the team section features Neil Patterson, Sales Director at Xoomworks Procurement part of Accenture. Having 30 years’ experience in the IT industry, Neil has a wide range of commercial, sales and technical experience in senior roles.
Tell us about your journey in Xoomworks. I joined Xoomworks as a salesperson in 2014. It was an interesting time to join, as Xoomworks were struggling to grow and felt that a change to how they sold may help. After an initial period, I was asked to head up and develop the Sales and Lead Generation team. Since then, it has been both a pleasure and a privilege to work with great people in Xoomworks and to collaborate with our partners.
What do you like most about working at Xoomworks? First and foremost, it is the people. One of the things that struck me when I joined was the fantastic culture that encourages people to collaborate, help and support one another. It is a very similar environment now we are part of a much bigger family in Accenture and that bodes well for the future.
Are there any projects that you are particularly fond of? When the COVID-19 lockdown began we had thirteen projects in progress and five that we were about to sign contracts on. We switched to remote delivery on all the projects, and they all continued. New sales were a different matter as our prospective clients all had to review their plans to cope with the pandemic. However, very quickly one client came back to us. We had been very close to signing but they told us they needed to evaluate the feasibility of switching their projects to remote delivery. We were bidding for a large Coupa rollout. It was part of a much larger, complex S/4HANAH project for a gas&oil producer and we knew it was going to be a challenge at the best of times. However, around May 2020 we re-started our negotiations and signed in June 2020. The deal was a huge vote of trust in our ability to deliver a complex project in an incredibly challenging environment.Let’s talk about your team. Who are they and what makes them special? We have been fortunate to attract a team of Salespeople and Pre-sales Consultants with strong domain knowledge. We have all had significant experience in the Procurement Technology sector and this has been important as we use a very consultative approach when we engage with our customers.
What are your hobbies? What do you like doing in your free time? I am fortunate to live on a smallholding in the Shropshire Hills which have been designated as an Area of Outstanding Beauty. We have a herd of Llamas and Alpacas together with an assortment of sheep, chickens, and goats as well as four dogs. As you might imagine this keeps me busy at weekends. I am also a keen golfer.Interested in joining Xoomworks Procurement team? Check out our Career Page for opportunities!
