Summer Work Experience 

For the past few years, in both our London and Cluj offices, we have encouraged and supported the culture of work experience and internship. We love the opportunity it provides to share experiences and to work on unique projects together. Some of our recent hires have actually worked with us in this way or indeed they have heard about our programme and it's been another reason why they have wanted to join our company.

This year we have had the pleasure of working with Matthew Richards, a family friend of one of our colleagues.

Matthew has kindly answered a few questions for us which we hope will give you a feel for Matthew and what his experiences at Xoomworks were like:

What is your role in Xoomworks?

My role in Xoomworks is to help out any colleague that may need something done for them and to carry out general office duties. To complete any task set to the best of my ability and within a realistic time scale.

What do you do when you are not working at Xoomworks?

When not working at Xoomworks I am studying at Havering Sixth Form College. I have completed the first year in my 2 year course and am studying:

• Double applied A level in ICT
• BTEC National Diploma Level 3
• CCNA Cisco Semester 1

What is your favourite Movie?  

My favourite movie would have to be Rambo.

Why did you choose Xoomworks?

I chose to come and work for Xoomworks as I was keen to come and find out what the company was about, what they do and to learn new skills in ICT. When looking at their website I saw that they had some high profile clients and was interested to see what they do for these companies.

What do you love about your work experience?

There are a number of things I love about this work experience:

• One would have to be how friendly and approachable all the staff are here
• They give you your own desk and treat you like an actual employee
• The staff are willing to help with any problems I may have
• The staff are willing to teach me new skills about the computers, both hardware and software and teach me about how the company works in general
• They allow me to work independently and solve issues for myself
• They are interested in me as a person and any feedback I may have
• They have a gaming company downstairs which they send you to gain more experience and skills in a slightly different area of ICT

What is the best song in the world?

 For me the best song in the world would have to be Eminem – Lose Yourself
